Efetobor Stephanie EFFEVOTTU, PhD, is a Nigerian historian, lecturer, researcher, and development practitioner with a doctorate degree in History (Development Studies) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She holds a B.A and M.A. degrees in History from the University of Benin and the University of Ibadan respectively. Her research interests span interdisciplinary areas, including religion, peacebuilding, migration, women and youth role in peacebuilding, post-conflict development, and gender and sexuality studies. She has contributed significantly to discourse in these areas through academic publications and community-based projects and has received several awards for her research works, including the Social Science Research Council’s Next Generation in Africa Fellowship, now African Peacebuilding and Development Dynamics (APDD). She also won the Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Grand Prize in the 2024 Global Youth Essay and Art Contest for her joint essay on “Promoting women’s role in peace and security through the localisation of the women, peace, and security (WPS) agenda”. Aside from her academic experience, she also possesses over seven years of experience in non-governmental organisation (NGO) settings, which have enabled her to gain an insight into advancing development solutions to fostering women and youth’s engagement in peace, security, and development issues. This has also made her deeply familiar with the various policy frameworks supporting women and young people’s involvement in peacebuilding such as the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, the UNSCR 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, the Sustainable Development Goals, amongst others.
